So far, we have been using the POS software for about a month now, and it has been mostly good. We scheduled another training this week however, to go over a few ‘minor’ details that stems from people who are new to computers.
One of the hardest parts for the sales people has been finding customers in the database. Some people are putting the name in using the first name and last name of the person placing the order and leaving the company name blank. Some people are entering the name multiple times as they are not doing a thorough search. This leads us to having a customer called “Business Name, Inc”, “Business, Inc”, “John Doe”, and “Business Doe” as some of the names coming up. There is also an issue with some people typing in all caps, some in all lowercase, and some doing some random capitalization.
Any time that you are migrating to a new system, these little pitfalls really don’t show their head until you are actually using the system. Here’s hoping that this last training will stick with them and they’ll be a bit more careful about data entry.
